Designed specially to provide innovative plastics solutions to the rapidly growing automotive as well as the appliances market, Borouge invested in compounding manufacturing units in Shanghai that will provide a range of innovative plastics solutions. Likewise, two large scale logistics and distribution hubs in Guangzhou and Shanghai were completed to deliver smooth logistical services to its customers in China.
While other regions show steady demand growth, China is projected to have the strongest global demand growth and will become the single largest market for polyolefins in the world by 2020 with 52 million tonnes per annum. Borouge is responding to this demand, and several plans are already rolled out to address the demand growth.
China's economy since the 1970s has changed from a closed, centrally planned system to a more market-oriented one that plays a major role in the global economy. In 2010, China became the world's largest exporter of major consumer and industrial products in the world.
