Recruitment fraud and scam alert

Please be aware that Borouge has been receiving notices from candidates seeking clarification of job offers and recruitment propositions they receive. These job offers come from organisations or individuals who are falsely pretending to recruit on behalf of the Abu Dhabi Polymers Company (Borouge) or by people claiming to work for, or are affiliated, to Borouge. In return, they ask the recipients of the job offers to transfer a significant sum of money to pay for certain employment requirements such as visa, etc.

Please note that neither Borouge nor any of the legal organisations that recruit on our behalf ask for any money or payments from applicants at any point throughout the recruitment process. All the successful individuals who have been directly or indirectly provided with job offers from Borouge are always required to go through a formal recruitment process. All communications with this regard should originate from a verifiable Borouge email address (borouge.com) and not from an internet email addresses such as hotmail, yahoo or others.

What you need to do…

• Do not respond to unsolicited job offers from organisations or email addresses that you do not know or trust especially when you have not applied nor gone through any interview with Borouge yet

• Do not disclose your personal or financial details to anyone you do not know or trust or on a website you are not familiar with

• Be aware and look out for suspicious signs such as communications from non-Borouge email addresses, poor use of English and materials and requests for fees or money

About the Role
  • Lead the accounting department in the effective and efficient maintenance of accurate accounting records for the Companies, in full compliance with IFRS and in accordance with the Company’s Management’s direction
  • Lead the accounting department in the effective and efficient maintenance of accurate fiscal records in compliance with local tax regulations
  • Direct and control the Accounting team to ensure the current and future needs of internal and external customers are met
  • Participate with other Finance Leadership team in the setting of short/long term plan/strategy for Finance and develop KPI’s in accordance with the Organization Mission, Values and Strategy
  • Manage and control the Marketing Head Office’s Group consolidated accounting

 

Key Accountabilities

    Accounting

    • Responsible for designing, writing and maintaining the accounting policy and procedures for all areas of accounting department to ensure clear direction for accounting team and adequate segregation of duties to provide strong internal control
    • Responsible for ensuring accounting records are in complete compliance with current IFRS requirements
    • Coordinate and cooperate with IT to ensure SAP systems handle, store and report data in accordance with Borouge Financial Policy
    • Direct and monitor the verification of the accuracy of accounting records including but not limited to physical counting of fixed assets and inventory; cash and bank reconciliations; reconciliation of receivable and payable accounts with customers and vendors; agreement of inter-company balances and transactions; variance analysis and proof in total for revenue and expenses
    • Coordinate and cooperate with Controlling and Treasury sections to ensure accounting information is captured in such a way that they have the information required for day to day management of their area, including but not limited to, forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis, business plan preparation and costing
    • Coordinate and cooperate with all Unit Managers to ensure accounting information is captured in such a way that they have adequate information to control their Unit’s costs
    • Safeguard Company assets by setting adequate controls to ensure that the Asset Register is maintained in accordance with the procedure and  review all requests for write-off/disposal are justified
    • Plan, direct and coordinate the monthly closing of the books of account to ensure Management and Owner reporting deadlines are met
    • Plan, direct and coordinate the year end closing and annual audit to ensure all Management and Owner reporting deadlines are met
    • Responsible for ensuring fiscal records are in complete compliance with tax regulations
    • Direct and monitor the timely preparation of fiscal returns and submission to the relevant authorities in accordance with filing timetable
    • Manage tax planning in a way that results in an optimum tax exposure and cost
    • Plan, direct and coordinate the year end fiscal closing and annual audit by tax auditors and facilitates timely acceptance of Final Income Tax Declaration

    Direct & Control Accounting Team

    • Organize accounting function tasks and allocate to members of the Accounting Team to make optimum use of the strengths of the team members
    • Organize tasks to ensure there is adequate segregation of duties and review controls to safeguard Company’s assets and the accuracy of accounting records
    • Manage the authorization profiles in SAP together with BPS and their allocation to individuals to balance the smooth running of the business with proper internal controls
    • Allocate supporting roles to each member of the Accounting Team to ensure smooth running of the accounting and fiscal functions during the absence of other team members
    • Manage and optimize the performance and development of Accounting Team through performance contracts, individual Key Performance Indicators and constructive feedback
    • Manage and optimize the performance and development of the Accounting Team through coaching and on job training
    • Anticipate the manpower needs of accounting team and initiates and participates in recruitment of additional staff as required.
    • Manage the training budget and the training needs of the Team to ensure it has the skills to meet current and future demands
    • Ensure Accounting Team has the knowledge it requires by facilitating smooth and efficient communication of Management, IFRS, Fiscal and other relevant developments to Accounting Team
    • Facilitate smooth and efficient communication within the Accounts Department and with internal and external customers.
    • Plan, coordinate and participate in the accountancy training of Employees under Development

    Participate in Unit Management

    • Contribute towards the short, medium and long term strategies of Finance Unit along with the Finance Leadership Team for PTE Finance
    • Contribute towards Unit reports
    • Support VP Finance / CFO with information and analysis as requested drawing on technical accounting knowledge as relevant

     

     


 

Experience & Qualifications
  • CPA with University degree in Accountancy or equivalent professional accounting qualifications
  • Minimum of 12 years or more of relevant experience
  • Experience and appreciation of managing an accounting department
  • Sound knowledge of accounting standards and principles, best financial practices, local tax regulations and statutory requirements
  • Experience with big 4 accounting firm preferred
  • Experience from MNC with similar capacity with a few years in the petrochemical/oil and gas industry preferred
  • Good business understanding and acumen
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Excellent financial analysis skills
  • Proficiency in English both written and spoken
  • Familiar with ERP system
  • Strategic thinking, mature and highly motivated
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good leadership and people management skills
  • Analytical, problem solving ability, influencing skills and good planning and prioritization skills
