Recruitment fraud and scam alert

Please be aware that Borouge has been receiving notices from candidates seeking clarification of job offers and recruitment propositions they receive. These job offers come from organisations or individuals who are falsely pretending to recruit on behalf of the Abu Dhabi Polymers Company (Borouge) or by people claiming to work for, or are affiliated, to Borouge. In return, they ask the recipients of the job offers to transfer a significant sum of money to pay for certain employment requirements such as visa, etc.

Please note that neither Borouge nor any of the legal organisations that recruit on our behalf ask for any money or payments from applicants at any point throughout the recruitment process. All the successful individuals who have been directly or indirectly provided with job offers from Borouge are always required to go through a formal recruitment process. All communications with this regard should originate from a verifiable Borouge email address (borouge.com) and not from an internet email addresses such as hotmail, yahoo or others.

What you need to do…

• Do not respond to unsolicited job offers from organisations or email addresses that you do not know or trust especially when you have not applied nor gone through any interview with Borouge yet

• Do not disclose your personal or financial details to anyone you do not know or trust or on a website you are not familiar with

• Be aware and look out for suspicious signs such as communications from non-Borouge email addresses, poor use of English and materials and requests for fees or money

About the Role Reporting to Head, Compliance & Risk, you are responsible for setting Ethical guidelines and processes for Borouge, providing Ethical advice as necessary to stakeholders in addition to addressing, reporting and escalating non-compliant Ethical issues. Responsibility includes creating awareness of Ethics and its importance within Borouge and managing documentation related to Corporate Governance Ethical issues.
Key Accountabilities

Ethics Awareness Programs

  • Review overall organization and identify areas with potential impact on Ethics compliance
  • Set / update common guidelines for Ethics compliance across the organization
  • Ensure validity and completeness of guidelines for Ethics compliance on an ongoing basis
  • Develop / update policies / procedures for addressing Ethics compliance issues
  • Develop / update communication roadmap for Ethics compliance and monitor its effectiveness on an ongoing basis
  • Ensure all staff are aware of the Ethics compliance guidelines applicable to them
  • Review requests from stakeholders and provide advice on Ethics compliance
  • Deliver periodic training and communications on Ethics programs (in-person, e-learning tools)
  • Periodically monitor, evaluate and ensure the Ethics Programs roll-out is being adhered to and effective
  • Responsible for the management of the Borouge Ethics Learning Management System (LMS) e-Learning platform

Ethics Compliance & Monitoring

  • Responsible for the Borouge Whistleblowing hotline and case management system
  • Support investigation of Ethics compliance issues raised through the various channels
  • Escalate breaches on Ethics compliance to Head of compliance for action
  • Managed and monitor the key Ethics Compliance Requirements on a periodic basis (i.e. Gift and Entertainment Register, Conflicts of Interest declarations)
  • Ensure validity and completeness of the reports for Ethics compliance
  • Prepare periodic updates on the implementation and effectiveness of the Ethics Programs across the organization
  • Periodically monitor laws, regulations and industry developments relating to ethics and update Ethics Programs as necessary

Generic Accountabilities

  • Ability to drive projects to completion, meeting internal and external timeline driven deliverables
  • Meticulous and ensuring high degree of accuracy
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the current regulatory and industry standards pertaining to Ethics and Compliance
  • Ability to exercise critical thinking in applying regulations and concepts to operational requirements
  • Demonstrate high standards of conduct and ethics as well as appropriate judgment, independence and discretion
  • Familiarity with components of ethics programs; specific experience in training, communications and/or business process development
  • Prior working knowledge on Data Analytics work such as data extraction, cleansing and analysis

Internal Communications & Working Relationships

  • Pro-active and ability to work effectively on cross-functional teams will all levels of management
  • Proven ability to collaborate and provide advice on ethics compliance matters and grey areas
  • Ability to forge strong business partnering relationships with employees in different functions and geographical locations

External Communications & Working Relationships

  • Law firms and external consultants
  • Ability to engage Borouge third parties on ethics related matters (i.e. Customers, Vendors, Strategic Partners)


Experience & Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required (preferably in law and accountancy / audit); Master’s desired
  • At least 10 years of prior work experience in ethics related functions
  • Strong project management skills, with experience in defining new guidelines and processes
  • Well-established computer skills in office productivity software such as Microsoft Office
  • Proven knowledge ethics best practices and requirements
  • Oil and gas industry experience is desired
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written (business proficiency in English would be required)
  • Strong project-management skills, with experience in defining new guidelines and processes
  • Strong networking skills
  • Strong conceptual and analytical thinking ability
  • Well-established computer skills in office productivity software such as Microsoft Office
  • Highest standards of professional and ethical behavior
