Recruitment fraud and scam alert

Please be aware that Borouge has been receiving notices from candidates seeking clarification of job offers and recruitment propositions they receive. These job offers come from organisations or individuals who are falsely pretending to recruit on behalf of the Abu Dhabi Polymers Company (Borouge) or by people claiming to work for, or are affiliated, to Borouge. In return, they ask the recipients of the job offers to transfer a significant sum of money to pay for certain employment requirements such as visa, etc.

Please note that neither Borouge nor any of the legal organisations that recruit on our behalf ask for any money or payments from applicants at any point throughout the recruitment process. All the successful individuals who have been directly or indirectly provided with job offers from Borouge are always required to go through a formal recruitment process. All communications with this regard should originate from a verifiable Borouge email address (borouge.com) and not from an internet email addresses such as hotmail, yahoo or others.

What you need to do…

• Do not respond to unsolicited job offers from organisations or email addresses that you do not know or trust especially when you have not applied nor gone through any interview with Borouge yet

• Do not disclose your personal or financial details to anyone you do not know or trust or on a website you are not familiar with

• Be aware and look out for suspicious signs such as communications from non-Borouge email addresses, poor use of English and materials and requests for fees or money

JOB PURPOSE

A job holder at this position is fully responsible for plastics and compound process-related technology development, innovation projects, in-house competency building, as well as other R&D or business application developments to bring value for Borouge products and its customers. The role holder is a technical leader to work across functions or regions in ideation/concept design, material formulation development, process development, and performance evaluation. The role includes the responsibility of performing scientific or engineering assignments in process scaling-up, optimization, and trouble-shooting to support manufacturing.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Job Specific Accountabilities

Technical

  • Own full accountability in compound process to enable successes of product or application development

  • Lead design, development or optimization of plastic and compound process-related technologies, including mixing, feeding, blending, screw extrusion, pelletization, ventilation, drying, and post treatment

  • Lead product or application development projects with responsibility of process design, scaling-up, validation or trouble-shooting to ensure successful delivery of milestones and biz targets

  • Lead process development projects or assignments to upgrade in-house capability to fully meet business demands on new product and technology in co-operation with AC lab or manufacturing site

  • Drive technical excellence of in-lab compounding lines through process optimization, standardization, trouble-shooting, and technical coaching through collaboration with AC lab

  • Act as compound process expert to lead or participate in innovation projects, enable successful delivery of milestones and targets in co-operation with other R&D and business units

  • Organize polymer processing community across regions to drive knowledge and excellence sharing, and communication platform development

  • Scout cutting-edge technologies in polymer processing, conduct technical external projects and studies supporting R&D, Innovation Projects and Application research.

  • Support to application evaluations, optimisation and quality / performance approvals of compounds

  • Support technical claim investigations, including reporting and conclusions on customer complaints within own area

  • Contribute to overall HSE&Q performance by keeping high standards in relevant work environment focusing on continuous improvements

People

  • Lead and coach a project team to deliver results according to project plans and targets

  • Provide technical training to internal (BUs) and external (customers, value chain members) stakeholders

  • Coach a functional team to deliver routine tasks or services

     

Customer

  • Co-operation with Business Units and R&D (B&B) to generate creative solutions to meet project targets and market needs.

  • Delivering expected results to business units on products, investigations, and application developments

  • Exploring customer and value chain needs by meeting stakeholders,  co-operation (customers, machine manufacturers) and visits

  • Gives technical papers/lectures inside & outside the company to promote Borouge products and image

  • Familiar with Customer special requirements which mentioned in customer document

COMMUNICATIONS & WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

Internal

  • All units and functions in AC: daily communication to enable smooth operation.

  • BI Management: provide regular update and assure implementation of management team decisions.

  • MC's, Sales, QC lab, Production, Finance, Procurement and Admin: as required, transform SHAC customers' needs into executable tasks and provide technical expertise on problem solving. Ensure smooth working relationships across all functions in order to achieve objectives.

External

  • Cooperation with Borealis Innovation Centres, research institutes, and universities.

  • Continuously finding new technical solutions or unmet business needs by co-operating with value chain partners, like customers, machine manufacturers, end users etc.

  • Focal point for contacts with third parties within own area

Experience

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

Minimum Qualification

  • Ph.D. in Polymer Science or Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Material Science or in a related discipline, with min. 6 years relevant industrial experience (alternatively, M.Sc. degree in the above related discipline with min. 10 years of experience and outstanding performance)

 

Minimum Experience & Knowledge & Skills

  • Master in polyolefin processing and compounding

  • Excellent knowledge of base resin, functional filler, additives, etc.

  • Solid understand of formulation, process, property and performance

  • Broad knowledge of plastic markets and applications

  • Broad knowledge of polymeric material testing, analytical techniques and equipment

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills

  • Skilled in planning, prioritization, coaching, feedback

  • Skilled in problem-solving

  • Good knowledge of patenting process and patent writing

  • Fluency in English and Mandarin, both oral and written

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:

Advanced planning, prioritization ,communication (oral & written), presentation, coaching, and influencing skills

WorK Condition:

Physical Effort

  • Mostly office work with regular visits to laboratory, application area and warehouse environments and occasional travel to operating sites and to international locations as needed.

Work Environment

  • Office and Laboratories are located in Sandhill Plaza Building, in Shanghai Pudong China. Occasional travelling domestically or internationally is required.
